SPECIAL ABILITIES
POWERS: |
| Dr. Light is a light manipulator, with the ability to control light for a variety of purposes. He can bend the light around him to become invisible, generate blasts of energy, create force fields and fly. By mentally repulsing photons, Light can create areas of complete darkness. Teen Titans #23 implied that Light could 'power up' by draining the ambient light in the area.
His control of light is not limited to the visible spectrum.
The limits of his powers are unclear, but he seems to be able to wrest control of anything that emits light. Such things have included Green Lantern constructs, Superboy's heat vision, and magic lightning from Wonder Girl's lasso. He was also able to temporarily take the "internal" light away from the light powered characters, the heroic Doctor Light and the Ray.
Originally, Doctor Light derived his powers from his suit, but over time he has internalized this ability, and can use his powers without having to use his costume.
Arthur Light was mentally brilliant, a genius in the field of physics. However, his mindwipe by the Justice League reduced his intelligence substantially, and he lost his skill for creative use of his powers. Light's recent recovery of his memories seems to have brought his intellect back with them. As a result, he is a much deadlier opponent, capable of fighting a huge team of Teen Titans to a standstill and facing off against multiple superheroes at once. |

CONTACTS
CONTACTS: |
| American League of Justice: (ALJ) Lead by Doctor Light who gathered to him several of the JLAs most dangerous adversaries with the secret of the JLA's darkest deed, that they had lobotomized many of their adversaries to prevent them from being of consequence. Using this knowledge, Light freed the criminal underworld from the JLA's teriny and lead them against the worlds heroes. The League included Chronos, Felix Faust, Liller Frost, Livewire and Tokamak among others. They are not to be taken lightly and considered to be among the CIAs, FBIs and Interpol's most wanted.
Fearsome Five The group was founded by the psychopathic criminal Doctor Light, through an ad he placed in the Underworld Star, a criminal underground paper with the purpose of mutual assistance. Sadly, while they proved deadly, they lack sophistication as criminal planners, a cohesive focus or loyalty, and are prone to in-fighting, backstabbing, and disbandment.
Injustice Gang: Consisting originally of Cheetah, Copperhead, Dr. Light, Solomon Grundy, The Shade, Star Sapphire, and the Ultra-Humanite and is led by Lex Luthor. The Injustice Gang's sole purpose was the elimination of the Justice League.
Injustice League: was the brainchild of the interplanetary conqueror, Agamemno. Bored of his dominion, he set out to conquer Earth and their champions, the Justice League. Aided by Kanjar Ro, Agamemno contacts Lex Luthor and they recruited other villains to their cause. Agamemno then engineered a switch wherein the villains' minds switched with those of the JLA. In the true JLA's absence, other Silver Age heroes came to clash with the now seemingly evil heroes. Eventually, Green Lantern used the power of the Oa's Central Power Battery and a Thanagarian weapon called Absorbascon to reverse the mind-swap. Having spent time in their enemies' bodies, the villains knew their heroic counterparts inside-out. To regain the edge, the JLA used the power of Robby Reed's alien H-Dial to transform themselves into totally different heroes. Then using his power ring through the Absorbascon, Green Lantern removed all knowledge of the heroes' secret identities from the villains' minds.
Dr. Light: (Finlay, Jacob)Finlay had used a technically advanced suit to control light as a minor superhero, but was accidentally killed by Arthur Light near the beginning of his heroic career.
Gizmo (Mikron O’Jeneus) Charter member. A dwarf genius inventor of high-technology devices and weapons who flies around on a jet pack.
Mammoth (Baran Flinders) Charter member. Shimmer’s brother, a hulking brute with immense strength and invulnerability who is emotionally and intellectually underdeveloped.
Psimon (Dr. Simon Jones) Charter member; Team leader. A scheming telepath/telekinetic with a transparent skull who took over leadership from Dr. Light after their first encounter with the Titans.
Shimmer (Selinda Flinders) Charter member. A woman who affects Goth-like attire who can transmute one element or compound into another. |

HISTORY
Doctor Light was a brilliant criminal physicist named Dr. Arthur White, who took the mantle of 'Dr. Light' by killing the original super hero, his former S.T.A.R. Labs lab partner Jacob Finlay. Finlay had used a technically advanced suit to control light as a minor superhero, but was accidentally killed by Arthur Light near the beginning of his heroic career. Light took the suit and the "Doctor Light" codename, using them for selfish, criminal means.
Dr. Light came to prominence in the American conscious when he almost single handedly defeated the original Justice League of America. However following his initial debut, inwhich he appeared to be a master villian, he seems to faulter in his next appearance, falling from the magor leagues to that of a minor but persistent foe of a number of heroes. Each criminal caper led to Light's defeat, often humiliating him in the process. Light's most ignominious defeat was likely his defeat by Little Boy Blue and his Blue Boys - a group of non-superpowered children.
Recently, while attempting to prove his worth to the Secret Society of Super Villains by teleporting on to the JLA's Watchtower to place some bugs, Doctor Light learned that he and many, many other antagonists of the JLA had had their minds 'lobotomized' by the mystic Zatanna at the behest of her fellow team mates. As stated, the process 'accidentally' gave him a partial lobotomy, thus explaining how he fell from being a plausible foe of the Justice League to a punching bag for whoever the new hero on the block was. Recovered his memories and intellect, and vowed revenge against the Justice League.
Light then turned to his fellow member of the SSSVs, Felix Faust to repair his mind. Once repaired, Light quickly gathered to him a collective of villains bent of avenging themselves against the JLA - However by this time Superboy Prime had slain or other wised dispensed of the JLA and much of the JSA to boot. Thus the newly formed American League of Justice or ALJ turned to the JSA's proteges seeking revenge. During this battle, Dr. Light was slain by Prime to keep him from revealing to the Titans that he had slain the JLA.
Dr. Light is now proceeded by his daughter Wendi.
