SPECIAL ABILITIES

ADVANTAGES:

ATTRACTIVE: Live Wire has a habit of turning heads where ever he goes, regardless of how he appears, he's just damn attractive.

CONFIDENCE: Live Wire possess an untouchable air of superiority that makes others instinctively realize he's not worried. He doesn't come off cocky, though he can at times. He just has a comforting presence that makes people know that he is the type of person who will get what they want when they want, by their own hands or use of powers if needed.

HEROIC: There is just something very imposing or impressive about Live Wire that makes him surpass the ordinary; whether, it is showing extreme courage or bravery, or saving someone's life.

POWERS:

DETECTION: Live Wire can detect and identify energy and related phenomena. He can only detect actual energy, not potential energy (he couldn't detect a bomb until it explodes, for example). Likewise, while he can detect the energies consciously emitted by super-humans, he cannot detect the meta-humans themselves.

ELECTRICAL MANIPULATION: Live Wire can control all forms of electricity, whether natural or artificial. He can control the intensity and direction of electron streams and alter the conductivity of materials. He can shape electron streams into any desired form. This permits him to develop lightning constructs designed to perform certain tasks (shields, cages, barriers, etc.)

ELECTRICAL GENERATION: Live Wire can create electrical streams that can do damage. He can project the electricity through any conductive medium, such as air, water, or metal. Electricity comes in various forms:

Static electricity causes magnetic attraction between objects and can disrupt electronic communications.

Lightning as sheer, raw, destructive power and by far the most popular form of this power.

AC/DC allows him to either energize or overload normal electrical devices and batteries.

ENERGY SPONGE: Live Wire can absorb any form of energy, whether natural or artificial, though even he has his limits.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

ACROBATICS: Gymnastic movement. Live Wire can tumble, swing from ropes, walk across thin beams, and leap through windows.

ASSESSMENT: Live Wire can tell the difficulty of many tasks and judge the abilities of others.

ATHLETICS: Playing a sport(s), including, but not limited to, baseball, basketball, cricket, football, jai alai, lacrosse, rugby, soccer, softball, tennis, various track and field events, and volleyball. He also have knowledge of injuries and first aid.

COMBAT STYLE (MARTIAL ARTS): Live Wire is trained in basic martial arts.

COMPUTERS (USAGE): Live Wire is fairly efficient when using a computer.

GAMING: Playing games, including, but not limited to, board, card, computer, dice, strategy, and tabletop games. This skill also covers gambling.

INTIMIDATION: Terrifying someone into doing or saying what he wants. Because, who wants a lightning strike from point blank range?

LEADERSHIP: Keeping a team together and focused on goals. While not the Legion's leader, Live Wire makes a great second to pick up the slack if something should happen.

PILOTING: Working knowledge of most 31st century aircraft.

SEDUCTION: The art of using ones sensuality and sexuality to manipulate another. It worked on Saturn Girl.

STREETWISE: The art of living and surviving on the mean streets. Live Wire knows how to handle himself on the streets and when dealing with low lifes and undesirables. He knows who to or not to approach, how to identify gang signs, etc.

DISADVANTAGES:

MORAL CODE: No matter what, Live Wire lives by Superman's code. He will not kill or more importantly, allow someone else to kill or be killed by there actions or lack there of regardless of the situation or mitigating circumstances. Likewise, and to a lesser degree, they will not permit others to be harmed and try to minimize property damage where possible. Saving lives takes precedence over all, even over catching the bad guys. Needless to say there are times when this code causes problems.

MORTAL: When it comes down to the nitty gritty, Live Wire is mortal. Regardless of any armor he might wear, weapons he might carry or even performance enhancing drugs he might take, Garth is only flesh and blood. His body is as susceptible to pain, injury and disease as that of the next person. Regardless of how often he trains or how intensely he trains, or how much he tries to push his physical limits, he is mortal and subject to the physical limits of being mortal. He can be permanently hurt or die.

EQUIPMENT

UNIFORM:

Garth's costume is blue with lightning bolts coming down his shoulders onto his chest. He wears white boots and gloves, and a yellow belt with the Legion emblem on it.

EQUIPMENT:

FLIGHT RING: Standard Legion Issue. The Legion of Super-Heroes' flight ring was originally designed by the Invisible Kid, he noted the unique anit-gravity properties of Coluan waste materials which he fashioned into the first of the Legion Flight Rings. Since their creation, ring has been refined so as to grant the wearer the following abilities:

  • ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION - offers protection agains environments that are hostile toward or unable to support sentient life. It protects up to a temperature of around five thousand degrees (a star) or as low as near Absolute Zero (space). It also allows it's wearer to breathe in an airless environment (vacuum, under water) and can filter harmful or alien substances.

  • FLIGHT: The primary aspect of the ring is it's ability to grant it's wearer the ability of wingless flight, based upon the natural or enhanced speed of the ring-wearer. The ring creates a personalized anti-gravity field around the wearer which allows self-propulsion through open space (hence, they are able to function in the vacuum of outer space). As a result, faster Legionnaires will be able to fly faster, and those who already are capable of natural flight will find an enhancement to their speed.
  • HYPER-SPACE COMMUNICATOR: allowing Legionnaires to communicate across interstellar distances.
  • SUB-SPACE TRANSMITTER BEACON: allowing for Legion tracking equipment to track the Ring anywhere in known space.
  • UNIVERSAL TRANSLATOR: allow two way communication between the Legionnaires and other races, translating the Legion's Interlac into the other race's native tongue and vice-versa. However, languages that do not share the same language 'tree' as Interlac are not able to be translated.

The Rings themselves seem to be self-sustaining, the half-life of the dense Valorum having not yet been determined.

OMNICOM: Standard Legion Issue. The Omnicom is a communication and information-display device originally developed and supplied by Brande Industries. All current Legionnaire Standard Issue Omnicoms are made by Brande Industries. With 5,000 viewing channels, a full audio-visual interface for recording, lockable file storage, environmental scans for safety and life signs, simple genetic scans, the sprocking Encyclopedia Galactica! Plus it's automation tools great for filing paperwork.

HISTORY

Not all heroes save the day. Some will almost ruin your life.

Garth was born on Winath, an unassuming farming planet and member of the United Planets. Like most of his people, he had a twin. Though he felt he was unlucky to be saddled with a sister, at least he was normal. The ones without twins, they were the freaks. But not all Solos were freaks. There was one that was smarter and stronger and better than everyone else in the world as far as Garth was concerned. And that was his older brother, Mekt. Garth's hero.

For as long as he could remember, Garth tagged along with Mekt every where he went. And inevitably, that meant that his sister, Ayla, was with them as well. The would run all over the fields, explore caves, swim and cause a little mischief. They never got caught, though. Mekt always got them out of everything. But as they got older, Mekt's stunts started to get more and more dangerous. And eventually, he'd lead all three on an adventure that would change their lives forever.

One afternoon, while their parents were away, Mekt came to Garth and Ayla with a new game. They were going to "borrow" a ship and take a little joyride. Never imagining that Mekt would get them in serious trouble, Garth wanted to go, immediately. He'd always wanted to get off world and now they would have a chance. So the three piled into a ship and set out on their journey.

A few hours into the joyride, the ship suffered a catastrophic power loss. Mekt managed to steer them to a nearby planet inhabited by 'Lightning Beasts'. He figured they could be used to power the ship, but they attacked the siblings. When they regained consciousness, Mekt and Garth began to exhibit the ability to control electricity.

From that day on, Garth started to idolize Mekt less, and worry about him more. Mekt's behavior became more and more erratic and dangerous. The day eventually came when Mekt ran away from home. Despite everything Mekt had done, Garth still cared about him. So, he left home as well, trying to find his wayward brother.

On his journey, Garth made two important new friends. Rokk from Braal, and Imra from Titan. And when the wealthiest man in the known universe, R. J. Brande was attacked, these three saved him using their special powers. Brande took an interest in trio and they formed the Legion of Super-Heroes. A group of super-powered young people dedicated to protecting the United Planets. Garth has really found a place were he belongs with the Legion, especially with a young telepath that he has fallen in love with. Though dating a telepath is difficult, he will say it has made him very honest.

But in the back of Garth's mind, he knows he's got another mission. He hasn't found Mekt yet, but he's certain his brother is out there, somewhere. He only hopes that the man he finds will still the hero from his youth, and not a monster.
