Power ring: Kyle's chief piece of equipment in his Oan ring, at the time of its creation the last of its kind. Forged from the fragments of Hal Jordan's ring, this ring functions much those in use by Lanterns prior to Kyle, with a number of differences.

The ring's primary ability granted to its wearer is the power to create solid constructs composed of a "hardened" derivative of the ring's psychoplasmic energies. What shape, form, or function the constructs take is entirely up to the imagination of the wearer, and considering Kyle's artistic background, the sheer magnitude of applications is astounding. Notable about the constructs however is the ring's inability to create constructs of any color other than varying shades of green without Kyle throwing a massive amount of concentration and willpower into it. Kyle is able to fashion weaponry appearing to be weapons that could deliver lethal force, but the ring's internal programming prevents its use as a death-dealing weapon, thus any such weapons will deliver only nonlethal attacks despite their appearance. Fortunately, if such weaponry is used against nonliving targets, the effects of said weapons affect the target as they normally would. The ring's constructs can be designed as real-life objects that act just like their actual counterparts, such as a hair dryer that blows hot air or a generator that supplies electricity. The capacity for each of these effects is limited only by Kyle's imagination and willpower. The constructs are as durable as Kyle can will them to be, on one occasion able to deliver and withstand nearly 4.5 kilotons of force. As the ring's constructs are formed through Kyle's willpower, distracting Kyle is one way to get past any defense provided by the constructs. Though customarily, Kyle's constructs fade away after their purpose has been served, Kyle is capable of making permanent constructs provided he can throw enough willpower into it. Examples of constructs he has willed into permanence are a necklace he made for Donna Troy and a memorial statue he constructed following the funeral of Hal Jordan.

The ring also acts as a means of transport for Kyle, bestowing upon him the power of self-sustained flight. While Kyle prefers to keep his flight speed to a maximum of roughly Mach 5 in atmosphere, he is capable of reaching hyperlight speeds for the purpose of traversing galaxies. Kyle is capable of creating plasma-construct vehicles that can travel at the same speed he alone is able to attain, although ground vehicles created by his ring usually keep to a top speed of 250 mph. Another element of the ring's transport capabilities is its ability to generate teleportational space-warps that Kyle often uses to seemingly pass through solid objects such as walls, or retrieve his battery from thousands of miles away. Since doing so requires a great deal more energy that simple flight, Kyle keeps to the practical method of transporting himself.

The ring maintains Kyle's life in addition to providing him the means to overtly defend himself. The ring can envelop Kyle in a form-fitting forcefield that not only protects from direct attack, but also from high and low extremes in temperature, radiation, and even the harsh vacuum of space. Kyle's forcefield is sufficient protection to withstand a great deal of impact; while the concussive force of a ballistic missile may cause a large degree of knockback, he would conceivably stay otherwise unharmed. The ring's forcefield also maintains an Earth-grade atmosphere within it so Kyle may breathe in harsh environments, and the ring's life-support features also dispose of bodily wastes. Kyle has configured the ring's internal power supply to keep on hand a small emergency reserve to be only made use of to maintain life support in case he runs out of energy otherwise.

The ring acts also as a computer data archive replete with the vast composite knowledge of the Green Lantern Corps from over the course of its existence, and Kyle can add data to the ring's internal memory at will, including MP3's for those long deep-space missions out in the middle of galactic nowhere. As a by-product of the ring's data archiving and analysis features, the ring possesses a universal translation feature that translates any language Kyle hears into English, while translating anything Kyle says to the native language of anyone he speaks to that may not speak English. Further, the ring acts as a commlink that connect with any other Oan power ring in existence with nigh-unlimited range. Kyle is able to use the ring's communication features through more conventional communications channels, but doing so requires him to synch the ring with that particular frequency or bandwidth. He already has the JLA's comm frequency programmed in.

At Kyle's mental command, the ring can configure the matter of his clothing into his Green Lantern uniform and back again. The wardrobe-change feature also allows Kyle to use the ring to repair any damage sustained to his uniform. This feature is a very rudimentary use of the ring's matter-manipulation powers, which Kyle has only made moderate efforts to develop.

Kyle's ring differs from other Green Lantern rings in four primary aspects. Previous rings contained an impurity that made them unable to affect objects colored yellow, a weakness the Guardians deliberately programmed into the ring to prevent the Lanterns from becoming too powerful. Kyle's ring does not possess this weakness. The second manner in which Kyle's ring differs from others relates to the limitations applied towards its internal energy stores. Previous power rings required to be periodically recharged through the use of a portable battery (also of Oan design), as their power would burn out 24 Earth hours after every charge, regardless of how much or little the ring was used in the meantime. Kyle's ring also requires battery recharge, but the energy supply of his ring works more along the lines of a fuel tank, meaning that the more he uses the ring, the more its energy reserves deplete until finally drained. The ring appears to have no maximum as far as how much he can charge it; the longer he charges the ring, the more use he can get out of it. Note that the primary energy reserve is separate from the emergency power reserve listed above, though it too needs to be recharged if used up. The third difference is that, although anyone could use any other Green Lantern power ring, Kyle's ring is genetically encoded to allow no one save himself, Hal Jordan (the ring's former owner), or any blood relative of Kyle's to use the ring. The final disparity possessed by Kyle's ring is that it cannot duplicate itself, an act usually done to deputize new Lanterns.

POWERS:

Hyper-Balance: Kyle possesses the ability to achieve a state of perfect equilibrium in any position imaginable. He seems able to adjust his position by instinct, enabling him to balance him on virtually any object, no matter how small or narrow. he has developed a unique fighting style that makes full use of his agility, strength, and equilibrium.

Hyper-Endurance: Kyle's capability of sustaining prolonged periods of physically stressful effort (aerobic or anaerobic) without/while only exhibiting any noticeable signs of exhaustion or duress. In the case of Kyle Rayner , 'long' is defined as being equal to the his Body rank times the rank of his Hyper-endurance. Thus Kyle could run at full tilt for .

Force Field: Kyle can project an all encompassing invisible shield around himself which provides protection against a variety of forces, including brute force, energy attacks, and extreme temperature conditions equal to it's power rank. If the field is met with an attack of a superior rank to that of the field, the field will collapse and the remainder of the damage will slip through and he will temporarily collapse due to mental backlash of field collapsing. Additionally, he can project this force field around others to protect or imprison them. Rank

Mental Defenses: Kyle 's mind is naturally 'hidden' somehow, thus concealing their thoughts and true nature from all but the most powerful of mind-affecting effects. Only the most accomplished of psionicist/mentalist/mind mages are capable of breaching his mental defenses and touching his mind. When subject to a mental/mind affecting assault, the rank of his Mental Defenses are subtracted from the attackers willpower before willpowers are contested.

Flight: Kyle can fly through air and space without an apparent means of propulsion. This is the most desired Power in the history of the world. The Power rank determines the maximum speed s/he can attain in a specific condition. There are three mediums in which they can fly. The slowest form of Flight occurs when s/he torpedoes through the water at the Water Movement rate (-4R). Faster speed occurs when Kyle flies through the air at the Air Movement rate. The fastest flight occurs when s/he is free of any hindering atmospheric friction; this is the Space Movement rate (+4R). Kyle 's maneuverability is determined by his Agility. Kyle may be able to surpass light speed but if he has Feeble Agility he is going to need a wide turning radius. True Flight includes as a side effect Power rank resistance to atmospheric friction and lungs adapted to breathe high velocity wind. It does not include the ability to breathe water or survive the rigors of outer space. When creating Kyle , the player can define the Power in any way that is consistent with the character or his equipment. Rank:

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Acrobatics: Gymnastic movement. Kyle can tumble, swing from ropes, walk across thin beams, and leap through windows. he reduce the difficulty when trying to lessen damage from falls and dodging attacks, if he have sufficient room to move acrobatically.

(+1R to Dex)

Assessment: Kyle can tell the difficulty of many tasks and judge the abilities of others. If he take a full exchange to analyze a person or task, he can learn the difficulty of a task or one ability or intensity score about an individual

( +R to Int)

Meditation: Concentration so intense that it focuses mental powers. Kyle may reduce the difficulty for any Willpower-based power if he spend one exchange meditating first.

( +1R Will)

Weapon Style (Sword/edged): Anything from a Sword to the sharp edge of a playing card, assuming Kyle can lift it. he can reduce the difficulty when throwing any edged object. (+2R to Dex, Str +2R dam)

DISADVANTAGES:

Hand-to-Hand Combat: Like every kid who grew up seeing Ralph Macchio throwing crane kicks, Kyle also developed an interest in martial arts, though his interest didn't last beyond a couple months. Although he got in fights as a teenager during his bygone days as a school bully, he never developed his abilities at unarmed combat, even well into his career as Green Lantern. Fellow team-mates illustrated to him the need to handle himself without using his ring as a crutch and trained him in more advanced combat techniques. While nowhere near the level of Wyldfire, Wonder Boy or most of allies, Kyle is able to handle himself in a bare-knuckle fight. Supplemented by his ring's abilities, Kyle has been known to slap on some plasma-construct samurai armor and get up close and personal with a horde of foes, though he still prefers long-range attacks.

Non-combat Skills: Kyle isn't an uber-hacker by any means, but he does have the average industrialized person's knowledge of operating a computer. He can easily manipulate basic software such as word processors and Internet browsers, and has been steadily learning how to use computer graphics programs, a necessity for his comic-strip work, under the guidance of Terry Berg.

Artist: Kyle is a highly skilled artist, his skills a combination of raw talent and extensive education. Kyle's skills were enough to earn him an art scholarship at a local college, and his education (which unfortunately he did not complete) honed his skills to professional level. He is primarily a painter, able to crank out realistic portraits and still-lives as handily as works of a more abstract bent. He is also facile with a drawing pencil and has parlayed that medium into his current regular job as regular cartoonist for Feast magazine. Prior to signing on with Feast, his experience with computer graphics software was rudimentary at best, but the aid of Terry Berg is increasing his prowess in that area. Kyle's works have appeared in art galleries and in more commercialized design work, including the signature logo of Radu Stancu's coffee shop. Kyle knows more than just how to create art; he has an extensive knowledge of the works of other artists and styles, enough to be able to recognize most of the classic works and know the meanings and stories behind those works. While pencil and paintbrush are his tools of preference, he is also skilled in sculpture, carvings, and other more three-dimensional forms of art, though these skills are less developed than his abilities to paint and draw.

Bilingual: As taught to him by his mother, Kyle knows a smattering of the Irish Gaelic tongue, though not quite enough to carry on a conversation with a fluent speaker. His knowledge of the language is confined to greetings, acknowledgments, and other basic expressions. He hasn't made any attempt to expand his knowledge of the language beyond that, largely to the once-strained relationship between him and his mother.

Celtic Lore: Maura Rayner has regaled her son with the stories and myths of her homeland of Ireland, knowledge of which Kyle has mostly retained. Chief amongst Kyle's remembrance were the tales regarding the spirits of the Irish afterlife, primarily since such myths were the reason Maura refused to allow Kyle to trick-or-treat during Halloween, since she believed the mythology that founded the holiday were not to be made light of. Though Maura holds her culture tight to her, Kyle is less apt to believe in his mother's tales, though his experiences since becoming Green Lantern, one example being teaming with one of Heaven's angels in the JLA, are causing him to reconsider.

Computer Use:

Survival: While Kyle has no actual education or experience in surviving out in the wild, he certainly isn't that bad at it. And when "the wild" can be an alien world or the depths of space itself, his survival skills are not something to be taken lightly. A die-hard urbanite, Kyle probably wouldn't be caught dead camping, but the necessity provided by, say, Fatality shooting him down over the Adirondacks, would spur Kyle to learn to stay alive in forested surroundings very quickly.

EQUIPMENT

UNIFORM:

A green and black ensemble. The majority of the outfit is black accented by green and some white. The ring is the main piece of the costume which sets him apart and identifies him as a Lantern. It's on his chest in obvious sight to show how "proud" he is to bear the ring.

EQUIPMENT:

Power battery: The Power Battery of a Green Lantern is their 'middleman' and link to the Central Power Battery on Oa, and allows them to recharge their main tool, the Power Ring. It only requires a ten second connection to re-establish a link between the Power Ring and the Central Power Battery, but that ten seconds confers twenty-four hours of usage, regardless of how much or how little the ring is used in that time. In Kyles case, his lantern is the only surviving remains of the great Oain artifact left in the universe.

During these few moments, Kyle must recite the Lanterns oath as a reminder of this dedication to the cause; "In brightest day, in blackest night,
no no evil scape my sight!
Let those who worship evil's might,
beware my power.. Green Lantern's light!"

The Battery itself is composed of Oamite, a nearly indestructible material, native only to the world of Oa from which it's name is derived. Should it become damaged or destroyed, the lantern can only be repaired (or truly destroyed) by a Guardian of Oa. A damaged battery is quite lethal and can cause temporal distortions in its immediate vicinity - a damaged battery should always be handled with care and destroyed if it is found to be beyond repair. A damaged lantern should not be used for the purposes of recharging a ring as the results could he hazardous or even potentially deadly.

Note: a Lantern's Battery isn't without its own defenses, besides being made of a nearly indestructible material, the Battery can also refract light around itself rendering it invisible so that only a ring bearer may find it. When going on long journeys, this is most useful to the GLs as they can reposition their lanturns elsewhere for the purposes of recharging their rings without worry of the them being stolen. After all, a Power Battery is just as precious as a Green Lanterns ring is.

TRANSPORTATION:

The Ring allows him flight that would not normally be possible by suspending his body in the air and making it lighter than a feather. His flight pattern is also controlled by the ring due to soft mental motions he makes in his head.

CONTACTS

CONTACTS:

Alan Scott; Mentor; Following the several mis-steps, Kyle came under the mentorship of the gold-aged Lantern 'The Sentinel'. Who attempt to both console the grieving hero and explain the nature of the legacy Kyle had stepped into. The two gradually became good friends.

Feast Magazine; Kyle's first regular job as an artist, Feast is a magazine tailored to young professionals with a focus on art and culture. Kyle acts as writer and artist of the comic strip "City Dwellers," which appears regularly in each issue. Feast has demonstrated full faith in Kyle's abilities, going so far as to comp him a high-end computer set-up and assign him the assistant of Terry Berg to nursemaid him through his inexperience with digital art. The two members of Feast's staff Kyle interacts with are the magazine's art director, Andre Choi, and the magazine's founder, Rena Stone. Rena, who makes her fondness for Kyle a secret to few, has sufficient faith in Kyle's talents to send any non-"City Dwellers" work that she can find his way.

Radu Stancu; Owner of Radu's coffee shop and of the apartments situated above the shop, Radu Stancu has been a staunch acquaintance of Kyle's since his arrival in the Big Apple. Radu, an immigrant from Romania, was a reluctant former member of the Romanian secret police. He intended to flee his homeland with his wife, Elena, but although he was able to escape, his former commanding officer captured Elena and tortured her to death over the course of days. Always mindful of the loss of his wife, Radu parlayed his earnings in Romania into the purchase of the Bleecker Street building that once housed Kyle and Jenny. Radu recently revealed that he has known about Kyle's dual life for some time, though how far back is something Radu has yet to elaborate on. A big bear of a man, Radu is a gentle sort despite his dark past and treats everyone he meets with friendliness and respect. His less-than-perfect grasp of English aside, Radu has been a constant in Kyle's life, always with a kind word and a strong cup of coffee.

Terry Berg; Due to Kyle's inexperience with digital production techniques, teenage graphic designer Terrence "Terry" Berg was assigned by Feast Magazine assist kyle. Terry's job initially was to familiarize Kyle with the new graphics software and aid him in the production of his comic strip. Terry, who was coming to grips with the fact that he might be gay, has since developed something of a crush on Kyle, and become his regular assistant.

Various Neighbors; The individuals who inhabit Kyle's former apartment building in Greenwich Village are quite the eclectic bunch of artists, each talented and decent people in their own right. All of them have taken Kyle and Jenny into their circle of friends along with Radu; in fact, a day that goes by wherein the majority of them aren't enjoying a caffeinated beverage in one of Radu's booths in the coffee shop is a rarity. The other tenants of Kyle's building include Lee Adamson, a staffer at the Metropolitan Art Museum; Li Chiang, who runs an off-Broadway theater and is Lee's lesbian partner and roommate; Nathan Straussman, an NYU film student with an eye for the classic comedies; Cleveland Rose, a blind jazz saxophonist; beat poet Rachel Ginty; and professional model Allison Chandler. Kyle and Cleveland had a sort of music exchange going on while he still lived there, wherein the pair traded CDs to introduce each other to their favorite tunes, Cleveland's being jazz and Kyle's being hard rock, metal, and industrial. Allison has posed nude for one of Kyle's paintings; although nothing undue happened between them, the modeling session led to the temporary break-up between Kyle and Donna Troy. If Allison has any designs on Kyle, she has yet to make them known. While, with the exception of Radu, none of them know Kyle's dual identity, all of them have had the opportunity to be helped out by Kyle in his costumed guise.

RELATIVES:

Aaron Rayner; father;
Maura Rayner; mother; The woman who brought Kyle into this world, Irish-born Maura Rayner's relationship with her son hasn't always been on good terms. The strain of losing his father at a young age, abandonment by his mother during her efforts to get her husband's superiors to locate him, followed by being smothered by her once she was able to continue getting his father's military paychecks... all of these factors led to Kyle becoming increasingly distant from his mother until finally he moved out after graduating high school. After Kyle moved to New York, Kyle made inroads to reconcile with his mother, and the relationship between the two has radically improved. Surprisingly, Maura figured out early on about Kyle becoming Green Lantern, a fact Maura is very proud of. Though Maura has since learned to loosen her apron strings, her home will always be a safe haven for Kyle should he need it, assuming he's in the mood for Maura's needling about grandchildren.
Zachary Rayner; uncle, deceased; was an adventurer, anthropologist and explorer who worked with the famed Buck Wargo.

HISTORY

Before acquiring the last Green Lantern power ring, Kyle Rayner was a struggling-but-gifted Lantern within their on-site enclave. He picked up on the Ring's power with some ease and shared an innate ability to catch on a bit faster than the other Lantern trainee's his age. But this is getting ahead of our young hero's story.

At the young age of six, little Kyle had his father leave him. He was much too young to understand the fact this his father was in fact lost on a mission and would later be decided to "Never return." He took it as abandonment and within that, his insecurity and weaknesses were soon breed. Not days after his father was said to be able to never return to the Lantern Enclave, his son Kyle Rayner was pulled from his mother and forced to train his mind and body to become one of the best Lantern experts in their culture. His learning ability was high above the other's but his adaptability and control over said powers was far below minimal. Having the strain of his beloved father gone and a mother that didn't seem to care about him, concentrating on studies always seemed a bit harder.

It was only two years after his forceful admission to the enclave that he was sent to earth, with not so much as a "Good bye" , or "See you later", from his mother. This disturbed him a bit but at this point the training of the Lantern and how he should show little to no emotion at all times had soaked in. He was placed under the watchful care of one Akima Lain'shie, a very noble Lantern before her retirement and for good reason. It was only two weeks before Kyle's 15th birthday that Akima suddenly disappeared after "Accepting" a mission sent directly from their home on Oa.

Akima had grown to be a mother to Kyle and in her sudden dismissal the Lantern's power began to explode like a dormant geyser building for years. The Ring began to crack as the limits of it's power were reached and it was at that point that the Lantern's on Oa realized that the son of Aaron Rayner had grown far beyond anything they could have expected. He had talent that few modern Lantern's could ever hope to achieve. It was on his 15th birthday that he met his mentor Alan Scott.

Alan became a very good friend of Kyle's and eventually Kyle looked up to him. It Was Alan who suggested Kyle's membership into the Titans but with no will to ever want to try and form a bond again he put it off all the way until he was 18. It was at that point that he learned the Legacy of the Lantern rested on his shoulders alone. Overwhelmed yet again he joined the Titan's reluctantly with the motive to step out of his shell and realize the power he'd been hiding for so long. That power would be far too hard to control or reach seeing as it was buried under torment, grief and morbid sorrow.. He hid this well and kept a seemingly outward personality.
