PERSONALITY: |
| Hallelujah Jones, or Hal as he is commonly referred to, tries to project a happy-go-lucky, free-spirited, 'I've-got-my-shit-together' sort of vibe to the world. Like most people the face he shows the world is nothing more then a mask which he uses to hide all of his insecurities, fears and phobias. The biggest of his fears is that he might actually be insane, or going insane due to his telepathic nature.
Hal is given more to asking questions of others and listening to them then he is to speaking about himself.
Like most people, his life experiences are somewhat unique as are his perceptions of life and the world. As such he is slightly inept socially, hence his reasons for being more of a 'listener' then a 'talker'. |

SPECIAL ABILITIES
ADVANTAGES: |
| Fast Exit: Hallelujah Jones can attack physically and move to firing distance before any foe can complete an action that affects he. But make sure he've properly analyzed the situation, because if even one of the opponents has an Intellect higher than his Agility, any of his opponents can redirect actions toward he, and he can't dodge any of them. br>
History: The science of humanity's past. Hallelujah Jones knows of lessons from past events that may have an impact on the modern day. If he are transported back in time, he can pass for a native of the past time period. br>
Mythology: The study of classical myths, which may seem all too real in a world where Thor, Hercules, and Dracula walk the earth. Hallelujah Jones should treat this like the Lore skill above when considering either a real-world or purely fictional culture. br>
Observation: The use of all sensory powers with Willpower trump suits, plus a general ability to tell when something is interesting or out of place. br>
Occult: The study of mystical practices. Hallelujah Jones know about magical societies, antiquities, runes, and forgotten lore. This skill is required to create magic items. br>
Research: br>)
Resist Domination: Hallelujah Jones reduce the difficulty to avoid or resist mental attacks by one level. br>
Stealth: The art and science of avoiding detection. Hallelujah Jones is awareness of their body, of their body's movements and most importantly of it's limits. This understanding allows them to move with the utmost care and silence, and also to freeze stock-still in a concealing shadow when necessary in an effort to avoid detection. Likewise, he can also prowl about rooftops and the like; high-technology electronic systems and some superpowers and heightened senses, however, will negate this ability. br>
Survival: Dealing with the rigors of outdoor life. Hallelujah Jones can use this skill any time he are faced with natural challenges, such as frigid cold, desert heat, starvation, and loss of direction. br>
Trivia: A mishmash of specialized knowledge. Hallelujah Jones have one or more subjects which he are expert in. This can be anything: old movies, military history, sports, rock music, comic books, he name it. br> |
POWERS: |
| ASTRAL TRANSFORMATION - Like many telepaths, Cheshire is capable of projecting his psychic self into the Astral depths. However he does so by literally altering the nature of the elements and compounds within his own body, transforming living flesh, tissue, and personal artifacts into their ectoplasmic equivalents. The astral body is intangible and near-invisible to all normal senses causing him to appear more as distortion with teeth (hence the nickname of Cheshire). Innate safeguards maintain his lifeforce in this altered state. When astral, Cheshire is able to move at the speed of thought, thus by thinking of a particular place he can transition there can be near instant. If a location is not know to him then he would simple move as fast as he could while still being able to comprehend what he could see and sense while he searched. At this time, Cheshire is unaware of what exactly his astral abilities will allow him to do. Currently he believes that he can 'teleport' limited distances of upto a mile—his own beliefs as to what his power is and how it works limits him. br>
MEDIUMSHIP - While Cheshire generally dismisses the supernatural as a lot of bunk, he is capable of actually communicating with the dead. He can not summon the spirits of those who've pasted, nor can he see their spirits at this time. However when and if they choose to speak to him, he is capable of hearing their whispers. br>
TELEPATHY Cheshire is capable of communicating on a direct mind-to-mind basis. This is automatic with willing or weaker willed minds, and somewhat challenging with unwilling minds or when dealing with minds possessing a willpower equal to his own. Those beings who are unwilling and have a willpower greater then that of Cheshire 's, or some form of natural or artificial psionic defense are difficult but not necessarily impossible (anyone who's characters mind is read must consent to said action). br>
TELEPATHIC INVISIBILITY - Cheshire has the ability to render his own mental energies/life force/physical presence undetectable via his telepathic abilities. His invisibility causes him not to be noticed by living, sentient beings, protecting him from discovery by any means other then electronic. Hence a person could be looking directly at him, and their own mind would tell him that they don't 'see him', thus causing them to act as if they were not taking notice of him. This invisibility also adds to his ability to mentally resistance to undesired probes and psionic attacks. br>
TELEPATHIC SCAN - Cheshire can telepathically probe a living mind or a psionic phenomenon to gain a detailed analysis of the subject he is scanning. Living minds can be searched for specific images and thoughts, although he must have a basic idea beforehand of what he is looking for.
Cheshire can also use his Telepathic talents to detect the presence of the living by scanning an area (144 ft x144 ft). Such scans can also detect independently existing psychic phenomena; Such things include poltergeists, psionic emissions that were so strong they permeated the area scanned and now continually echo, and psionic Powers intercepted by the him. br>
TELEPATHIC TRANSLATION - Just as Cheshire is able to understand any mind which he reads, so too can he understand anyone who is speaking to him. He can even respond to that person in the language they are speaking in so long as he is within close proximity to them (50 ft.). This is a specialized use of his telepathic abilities, and as such he does not actually learn any languages, he is simply using the target's language centers. Note: Cheshire must be capable of reading the subjects mind in order to use this ability, hence he can not speak to the animals, or alien races if they are too 'alien' as to be 'unreadable'. br> |
DISADVANTAGES: |
| DANGER MAGNET - For reasons beyond his understanding, Hal, like his mother, 'Danger-Prone' Daphne Jones, is a danger-magnet. Trouble seems to seek him out regardless of what he does or where he goes. As such he is currently taking an internet class in 'escapology' inbetween kidnappings, bar-mitzvahs and other small calamities which tend to befall him.Love Lost: Hal is a born romantic, and as such easily falls for a pretty face. As such he's also easily manipulated by a pretty face. br>
MORAL CODE - No matter what, Hallelujah Jones will not kill or more importantly, allow someone else to kill or be killed by there actions or lack there of regardless of the situation or mitigating circumstances. Likewise, and to a lesser degree, they will not permit others to be harmed and try to minimize property damage where possible. Saving lives takes precedence over all, even over catching the bad guys. Needless to say there are times when this code causes problems. br>
MORTAL - When it comes down to the nitty gritty, Hallelujah Jones is human. Regardless of any armor they might wear, whens they might carry or even performance enhancing drugs they might take, Hallelujah Jones is only human. His body is as susceptible to pain, injury and disease as that of the next person. Regardless of how often they train or how intensely they train, or how much they try to push their physical limits, they are human and subject to the physical limits of being human. Being human, they can be permanently hurt or die quite easily in comparison to some metas. A baseball bat to the head, a bullet wound to the chest, an allergic reaction to a peanut, slipping in the shower, all of these and more can result in permanent death for the character. br>
SECRET IDENTITY - Hallelujah Jones came to believe early on that it is important to maintain some kind of anonymity when acting beyond the reaches of the law. As such, He wears a mask, may don a wig, or some similar means of disguise so as to conceal their legal identity from that of the general public. Generally, this means He keeps there two identities secret from others regardless of there relationship with said person(s). They believe this offers a level of protection and comfort to those they care for, love and wish to remain safe. Likewise it also allows them someplace to go when they need rest-they can escape into their 'legal' identity. This can caused cause a strain on relationships. It also causes problems in keeping it from family, friends (of Hal) and of course from the authorities. It can also be difficult keeping one side of his life intruding into the other side. br> |

CONTACTS
RELATIVES: |
| Daphne Blake-Jones: Mother; Former Detective; Daphne's tendency to get into trouble is apparently something of a family trait. If there's one thing we Blakes are famous for it's being — how should I put this? — danger prone." This caused a chain reaction of Mystery Inc. looking at Daphne.

Shaggy spent much of his youth as a love child of the late 60's, a beatnik with a goatee, who spewed plenty of "hip" slang and studiously avoided anything resembling work, which he seemed to regard as the ultimate four-letter word. During this time he also developed a substantial drug habit, as evidenced by his shoddy clothing, poor bodily hygiene and the way he often jumped with fear at nothing. However, thanks to several interventions and hitting bottom, Shaggy, who now went by Neville, cleaned up his act, went to college and became a social worker specializing in drug and chemical dependency.

HISTORY
Hallujah Jones is the son of Freddie Jones and Daphne Blake-Jones who met as teenagers through their mutual friend Norville 'Shaggy' Rogers and his dog Scoobert, aka Scooby-doo. Together with Daphne's childhood friend Velma Dinkley, they formed a small freelance detective agency which operated out of the back of Freddy's van. Named Mystery Inc., each of the members assumed a specific role; Freddy the leader, accident-prone Daphne, bookish Velma, and munchie-hungry slacker Shaggy. Together they visiting haunted houses, explored ghost towns, and ventured into abandoned amusement parks for an entire lost summer of fun. The teens investigated reportings of witches, ghosts, and even goblins. Invariably, the "monster" would turn out to be a greedy human in disguise, trying to scare away people for his or him own financial gain. And off course, the villain would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for those "meddling kids"! It was against the backdrop intrigue, danger and fun that was set by Mystery, Inc that Freddie and Daphne fell in love and eventually married.
Following an initial period of wedded bliss and adventure, the Jones settled down and began a family. Following one particular case Mystery, Inc. case in the Pacific Northwest brought Freddy to the attention of a very prestigious agency which serviced Weyerhauser Industries. Soon after settling into life in the Northwest, the Jones moved to the small neighborhood of Wallingford, in Seattle Washington where they had a child whom they named Hallelujah Wentworth Jones. There he had would be termed a near-id idyllic childhood. There he grew up in an unusually stable household, surround by happiness, love and security. His life was one of family picnics on the shore, hiking and camping in the woods, vexing piano lessons, little league baseball games and other childhood nonsense.
However all of this began to change as Hal began to approach nine years of age, his psychic abilities began to surface, and given how they initially began to surface, no one took notice of what was happening; Hal began to talk to Scooby, and Scooby would answer him. This may have been going on for longer then even Hal is aware of, given that as a child he had always played with the families great dane and always talked to Scooby and imagined that Scooby was talking back to him. And as more and more odd things began to happen, his parents continued to chalk it up to an inventive and fertile imagination.
Hal, on the other hand thought he understood what was happening to him, which was that he was obviously going insane. Fearing this, he did everything he could to hide any evidence of his emerging powers and abilities.
As his twelfth birthday approached, Hal began to precognitive flashes, brief insights of perspective in full technicolor of future events. Frightened and disoriented he did what most kids his age would do - hoped they would go away. The flashes of course didn't, and as time passed, the visions became more and more intense. Shortly after his thirteenth birthday Hal began lapsing into short trances and babbling about odd things which had yet to happen. Hal's parents fearing the worse brought him to a psychologist to explore his somewhat erratic and unpredictable behavior. The psychologist mistook Hal's abilities for what Hal feared most, Associative Personality Disorder, also referred to as schizophrenia. Medication was prescribed.
Through his highschool years, while his abilities continued to grow, they also lied dormant, suppressed do to the drugs and tranquilizers which had been prescribed for him. Hal continued to deny his abilities even as they continued to surface; It was almost 4 months before Hal realized that his "best friend" in his sophomore year had been dead since 1954. Up on this realization, Hal immediately went to his parents and then to a psychiatrist. He soon found himself on an intensive drug program which was meant to help balance the neural chemistry in his brain, which it did, and in so doing dampened his psychic powers and allowed him a more normal adolescence.
His reputation soon shifted from the moody, creepy kid who mumble a lot to himself to that of the quiet, brainy kid. He even began to make a few friends amongst the nerd herd. It also afforded him the chance to try new things, like learning that he lacked the physical coordination to do karate and that he was so tone deaf that when people said he played a 'killer' guitar they meant it. And as time went on, he opened up to his friends about his abilities, some by accident, some on purpose and one due to romance. And they in turn helped him to come to terms with his abilities and eventually he stopped taking the perscriptions.
Hal graduated as the Valid Dictorium of his graduating class, and was accepted to the University of Washington where he began to explore his future. However, recently he had a vision. That vision has given him a purpose beyond anything he has ever imagined. Hal dropped out of college without explanation, taking a job at an odd used book store for the sake of the universe.
