CONTACTS

CONTACTS:

Justice Society of America: Hippolyta was one of the founding members of the JSA and still as contacts with the Justice Society that are still alive. They could possibly re-introduce her into the Patriarch’s world if they needed to.

RELATIVES:

Diana, Princess of Themscyria; Daughter; Wonder Woman II: Diana is her daughter and the Princess of Themscyria. She is another link to the Patriarch’s world. They have a good relationship between the two of them, although with Hippolyte’s recent decline as a Queen may lead to tension.

Troy, Donna: Daughter The twin of her daughter Diana, although she does not know Donna exists. She is still her daughter one Hippolyte would recognize if she knew of her.

Troy, Leonard; Grandson; Wonder Boy: He is her grandson for all intensive purposes. He is the son of her daughter, although she does not know her daughters existance. At the very least, Leo is a protege of Amazon teachings.

Trevor, Steve Sr.; Pilot; Lover; Deceased: Steve was her lover when she was a part of the Justice Society. The two were close, and although Steve used Hippolyte as a substitute for his wife at first, the two soon cared for one another. Hippolyte wounded him seriously (emotionally not physically) when she left to return to her island.

ENEMIES:

Dark Angel: Baroness Paula Von Gunther was a powerful sorceress who created the identity of Dark Angel to hide her true name. She was the one who stole the spear of destiny and the holy grail to hold back the Mystery Men during World War II. She has a special hatred towards Hippolyte as she was the one who finally defeated her. She is a powerful sorceress who is very much still alive in present day.

HISTORY

Hippolyte’s history starts before her life as an Amazon. It starts with her first life as a pregnant cave-woman. When her husband returned, he has lost his hand. He took his anger out on his wife killing her. Her soul lived on.

When the goddesses created the Amazons from the Well of Souls, Hippolyte was the first to break through the water of the Aegean Sea. She would become a joint Queen with her sister Antiope. The two would rule the Amazons fairly and justly trying to spread peace throughout the Patriarch’s world. However, as the years progressed, man began to fall out of favor with the Amazons and they became quite reclusive.

Ares, wanting to destroy the Amazons, had his mother send his half-brother to steal the Girdle of Gaea from Hippolyte. Hercules came with army to attack the Amazons. The great battle did not take place at this time. In single combat, Hercules fought Hippolyte, and the Queen won. Hercules would ask for a ‘truce’ and the Amazons would bring the army of Hercules into their city. Hercules would destroy the city and imprison the Amazons after drugging Hippolyte.

Hippolyte, naked and betrayed, prayed to Athena to help. Athena answered her prayer. She told Hippolyte of her reclusive nature, and asked what the queen would do if she was released. When Hippolyte claimed vengeance, Athena forbad her to do so. The Amazons were to sneak away to an island that the goddesses set aside for them. Hippolyte agreed, but the rest of the Amazons did not. When she escaped, most Amazons followed her sister to kill the men of Hercules. The men would quickly flee, but the sisters were torn as to what they should do. Antiope wanted to follow them men, while Hippolyte wished to follow the gods. The sisters parted, and with Hippolyte rested the will of the gods. Antiope swore off the Greek deities and went to battle Hercules.

Hippolyte’s Amazons followed the goddesses path to the island. The island held Death’s Doorway, and the Amazons were doomed to protect it. Regardless, they quickly began to build a new civilization based on the small island. The goddesses placed the island outside of space and time, and while the Amazons (or anyone) was on it, they were immortal. Their new civilization began with the city of Themyscria.

Years would pass and the Amazons would continue to flourish. They practiced their Amazonian ways, but would continue to search for their failings in hopes of correcting them. Hippolyte ruled justly as the years went on, no time seeming to pass at all before the Prophet on the island sought her out. The Prophet told her the gods decreed she go to a man’s world. She had no more information than that.

Using metal found outside Death’s Doorway, the Amazons created an invisible transport. (When the metal was tempered, it turned invisible). The “Invisible Plane” as it would be known became legendary. She clothed herself in Amazonian armor and went to the Patriarch’s world. She became the first Wonder Woman, and an early member of the Justice Society of America.

Early on she met Steve Trevor, whom was the government liaison to the Justice Society. The two quickly started a physical relationship. Trevor's wife had vanished during the first World War leaving their son in his care. Neither one admitted the inevitable that she would one day leave, but each day Steve hoped his 'angel' would return. She did, until the McCarthy Trials.

Those trials showed her exactly how men could be. She left the Patriarch’s World and found her way back to the island. Although men had betrayed her once again, she still yearned for the adventure. However, something inside of her seemed like it was missing. Once again, a visit from the Prophet told her what was going on. Her soul was linked to another when it died, and as such she was linked to the other soul. The gods decreed she give birth to the child.

She went to the beach and created a child whom looked like her sister. The gods blessed the child with great power. She raised her daughter, Diana, on the island the best she could, her dreams of adventuring must just be a dream. On her daughters sixteenth birthday, the gods once again gave a decree. A contest was to be thrown to find a champion. Hippolyte forbid her daughter to attend, but she did anyways. Diana won.

The final task was to block bullets with the Amazonian bracelets each Amazon had. Hippolyte found this test when she herself had been Wonder Woman; now, her daughter blocked every bullet. Her mother bestowed upon her a costume designed to be like hers, yet original all the same.

Diana left the island suddenly soon afterwards at the summons of Hermes, and Hippolyte was once again left alone on the island. Her adventurous nature once again rebelled inside of her, and she abandoned her Amazons in another way. She no longer seemingly cared for them like she once did and her rule began to lack conviction. She still resides on the island, although as her daughter continues to adventure, she may soon leave to join her in the Patriarch’s World. She must find her place again, for her place is no longer the throne.
