APPEARANCE: |
| This imperfect clone of Superman is one of a failed experiments of Lex Luthor's Cadmus project.
Note: Large and pale, this hulking brute stands over six feet tall and looks to be one big hulking muscle. The green suit he wears clings to his body showing off the large muscles the bulge at his arms, legs, and just about everywhere else. The whole costume is green with only his hands, neck and head not covered. On his feet are a pair of purple boots and a matching purple cape flows down his back from his shoulders. On his chest is an S-shield, much like that of the Super Family, save that the S is backwards and the red lettering is purple, inset into the yellow background. A matching solid, purple S-shield is on his cape. A pair of purple trunks is circled by a yellow belt around his waist.
The man's skin is greyish, like a zombie, and his hair is dark black. Two beady, yellow eyes look out from a square face that looks like a slightly dulled version of Superman's. His large chin, under an equally large mouth, has no hair on it, with a jaw that looks to be one and half times as large as it should be. |

PERSONALITY: |
| Backwards
Bizarro is, quite literally, backwards. He does not speak, nor think in the same manner as normal people, but instead everything is backwards for him. If he is told not to do something, he will do it. If he is told to do it, then he won't. He is sort of like a child that way. The reverse of the truth must always be told to him, just as he will always say the reverse of what is true. That does not mean he is dishonest. In fact, it is quite the opposite. He just says the opposite of what he means. This can lead to a lot of misunderstandings when people do not know how he speaks, as they can think he means the opposite of what he is saying. Conversely, Bizarro can easily think someone is saying the opposite of what they actually mean, too. When speaking to Bizarro, one must always say the opposite of what they truly mean or he will not understand and instead take it to mean the exact opposite.
Cunning
Although he is not intelligent, there are times when Bizarro can be rather cunning and planning. While they are not nearly of the level of Lex Luthor, for example, it can be very surprising because Bizarro normally does not act that way. If someone is used to just fighting the slow, punchy Bizarro, it can be a bit surprising to suddenly have him setting a trap - albeit a rudimentary one. That surprise, in fact, can be more successful than the actual trap in the long run.
Dumb
To put it simply, Bizarro is an idiot. He gets confused easily, he doesn't understand algebra or the finer points of the English language (like grammar) and, if he had to do it, he may even have trouble tying his own shoes. Bizarro does not grasp anything but the most basic of concepts and he really doesn't need to. He has good and evil and that is really enough for his brain to handle. It gets him in trouble, naturally, because it can be used against him and his allies, but there is precious little he can do about it. In terms of true intelligence, it is hard to determine what he has. He grasps some things very easily, and others it is very difficult to get through to him. Generally, however, he should be placed at the same intellectual level as a five year old. Maybe four.
Honest
Although he may be dumb, Bizarro is honest. He does not try to deceive people when he speaks to them, even though they may not understand what he is saying when he says it. That is thanks to a whole other personality disorder altogether. Bizarro does not try to lie, or cheat, but truly believes that he is good and good people do not do any of those things. He simply exists, trying to help. It's not completely his fault that sometimes it goes awry. Even when that happens, he will answer questions truthfully, unless he's been told to tell little lies to protect someone (he wouldn't tell someone where Lois Lane is, for example, if he thought they were going to hurt her).
Personality flux
Sometimes it seems like Bizarro has a major case of multiple personalities. Occasionally he will be cunning and cruel, and others completely innocent and naive. It all depends, generally, on who is pulling his strings at the time, but even without outside influence, Bizarro can pull a complete one-eighty as far as how he acts. While some things like his decreased intellect stays with him, the way he acts can change, sometimes during mid-fight but usually from one encounter to the next.
Protective
Bizarro is fiercely protective of his friends, no matter who they are. He will defend Lois from Superman himself if he thinks he has to and conversely will protect Superman from Lois. If he thinks that a friend is in danger, he tries to keep them from getting hurt, no matter what might happen to him. It's really just that simple.
Trusting
Maybe it's because of his simple nature, but Bizarro is rather trusting of others. He does not know a lot of the bad things people have done unless he's met them and seen it for himself. He has a tendency, then, to follow just about anyone that is nice to him, which makes him extremely susceptible to being thrown into situations he should not be in. Like when he helped Harley Quinn in her crime spree in Metropolis (post-cut-off). The key to getting Bizarro to help is just to make him think you're his friend, then he will trust you, so long as you don't turn on him.
Wannabe
Bizarro wants to be Superman. He was created to replace Superman. As a result, he tries to emulate Superman in his own twisted way. He tries to help people, fight off evil aliens if they get in his way, and generally do things that people would expect Superman to do. Of course, that doesn't always work out, as a cry of 'help' means the person can handle it themselves to Bizarro. If he sees something, though, that he thinks is bad without hearing anything to the contrary, Bizarro will try to help. He wants to be a hero, it's just really hard for him to accomplish it. |

Hyper-physiology: Bizarro's hyper-evolved biology is a culmination of genetic engineering done by Jor-El and the effects of solar radiation stored deep within the cells of his body. Metabolizing such energy helps keep the engineering body in top condition, not only health-wise but also in terms of performance. His strength is a direct result of his physique and in a way along with Flight serves as one of the man's trademarks when it comes to powers. He can do feats of strength that are just beyond the ability of any normal human. He's able to tear apart steel, punch through concrete, pick up a plane, pick up a "building", throw asteroids around and go against the like of Doomsday and put up a fight. His feats of strength can both be used on the ground or when flying with the same amount of effort. However, in the most dire of situations he's able to push himself to so limits as to be able to carry almost any burden. His maximum strength without pushing himself to the limits is around one million tons.
Energy Absorption: Solar; The secret of Bizarro's powers is that he's a solar battery. He absorbs the radiation from a yellow star and metabolizes it. In doing so, his body is powered up and brought to its peak condition and as a result, he displays the powers he does. All of his powers come mostly as a result of this solar energy absorption and metabolizing, which in turn is a result of his Kryptonian physiology as well as the genetic engineering done by Jor-El at the time of his conception. Remove the sun, and Bizarro fairly quickly will start losing all his powers. Although he doesn't have to be directly exposed to sunlight since he's able to just absorb ambient energy as well as the energy reflected by the moon and the atmosphere, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight helps power him up faster. He didn't display his full range of abilities until he was in his teens, so if fully drained it would take some time to fully recharge. There is no limit to how much energy he can store, although there's certainly a limit to how powerful he can be. There is a direct influence by direct exposure to solar radiation and his powers, though. If you have Bizarro go into the sun for some time, when he comes out his powers would be enhanced for some time until the go back to normal levels. Approximately, his powers would return to normal levels in half the time he spent charging himself up. Because of the dangers those level of power offer, Bizarro only goes through this process in the most extreme of situations.
Hyper-breath: His Kryptonian physiology grants Bizarro a much better, efficient and larger lung capacity. He's able to compress air, storing it for a longer time than human lungs would be able to. When exhaling, Bizarro is able to control the flow and pressure of the air coming out, manipulating his breath to create strong winds that would rival the strength of a gale or hurricane, able even to topple down a building. Note that Bizarro still has to breath, though, so if he were to fill up his lungs he would have around fifteen hours of air before he needs to take another breath. This allows him to operate in space, for example, but only for a short period of time unless he has a special oxygen mask with him. Because of the way the air is compressed, he's able to apply a freezing effect to it which is discussed in its own power entry.
Ice vision
The opposite of Superman's heat vision is Bizarro's ability to create beams of cold from his eyes. By looking at a target and concentrating, Bizarro can cause the air around them to freeze, encasing the target in a block of ice. This ice is like normal ice, it is just made much quicker. It is not stronger than normal ice and melts at the same rate. Bizarro can cover a man up to his waist in six inches of ice in under a matter of moments. Like his fire breath, Bizarro will only use this power as an attack unless he is instructed to use it in some other manner. Bizarro's ice vision can fire up to fifty yards without any problem and is reduced to half its strength for distances beyond that up to one hundred yards. After this, his power is reduced to the point where it becomes useless.
Fire breath
The anti-thesis to Superman's freezing breath is Bizarro's flame breath. In the same way that Superman can expel his stored solar energy through his eyes, Bizarro can through his mouth. The only difference is that while Superman's heat vision can be a focused beam, like a laser but with differing levels of intensity, Bizarro can only use this power at one power level. It manifests itself much like a dragon breathing fire would, in a large blast of uncontrolled and unfocused flame. The heat of this flame is akin to a blast furnace and it can easily alight flammable materials with its touch and melt metals after a short amount of contact, although it has been proven ineffective in harming Superman. Bizarro's fire breath is limited to ten feet in front of him and he only ever uses it as an attack, never for any finer uses, unless someone were to instruct him to do so.
Hyper-Coordination
When moving at super high speeds, one needs to be able to move easily and without much difficulty. Bizarro is able to do this, allowing him to zigzag in flight, pull tight corners, and other such things that require a good amount of agility. Unfortunately, Bizarro is not too quick, so while he has the potential to do it, he often fails to do so, instead going the straight and narrow. He'll crash into walls, and often through them, before straightening himself out again. The potential for him to be as great a flier as Superman is there, but he really has not tapped this power at all.
Hyper-senses: Like his physique and his reflexes, Bizarro's senses are much better than those of a normal human. His eyes are able to see beyond the area of visible light in the visible spectrum, granting him the ability of X-Ray vision and even to detect heat signatures (infrared vision) as well as energy signatures. His vision also has a telescopic and magnifying quality to it, allowing him to see things that are up to five hundred miles in distance or if he focuses it, up to a sub-atomic level. This level of vision manipulation takes a lot of concentration, though. His senses of touch and taste are equally enhanced, and with the right amount of concentration he's able to break down taste in its components and feel the smallest particles against his skin. Taste being connected to smell the way it is also works in the same manner for the man. His sense of hearing is so acute that he can focus on different frequencies, or pick up the faintest of sounds. With a lot of concentration, he's able to scan great distances for a sound. He could potentially scan the whole planet if he finds a good vantage point to do it from.
Immunity: Because of his Kryptonian physiology, Bizarro's body is very good at fighting diseases or poisons to an extent, making him immune to them. You won't see Bizarro getting a cough, for example, because of his immunity system is advanced enough that it won't let it affect the man. Are there things out there that could poison him or make him sick? Maybe, but it's not very likely at least when it comes to substances or diseases that can be found on Earth and Krypton. Even when infected, his body will fight the infection at an accelerated rate.
Invulnerability: Bizarro's Kryptonian body is already hardier than a normal human, and this hardiness is quite enhanced by metabolizing the solar energy he's absorbed into his body. It takes a lot to hurt the Man of Steel, thus why he's called the Man of Steel. The most extreme of conditions would still hurt the man and there are beings out there like Doomsday that can put the pain on the man. The solar energy is redirected by his body to his aura, making him almost completely impervious to normal damage. The aura will offer some protection as well to anything he's wearing that is close-fitting, but that's the extent of the protection to other things that it gives. His invulnerability is proportional to how much solar energy he has stored, although it caps at a certain point. When he loses access to solar energy or is affected by Kryptonite radiation, his vulnerability begins decreasing thus making it easier to hurt him. Magical attacks are an exception as they affect Bizarro quite effectively and are able to hurt him pretty much bypassing his invulnerability.
Longevity: Bizarro's longevity comes as a direct result of the solar energy stored in his body. Metabolizing the stored energy reverses the effects of age in such a way that if he were constantly at maximum level, he could in theory live forever. If the solar energy is removed, though, Bizarro would start aging at a regular rate and could die of old age. The stored solar energy also ensures that Bizarro's body is at its prime, his body working at its most efficient when he's fully charged.
Hyper-reflexs/coordination: Continuing to explain while Kal-El is known as Bizarro, between the genetic engineering involved in his conceiving and the enhanced abilities he has due to the stored solar energy, Bizarro's reflexes are more acute than those of a normal human being. His reflexes allow him to react to things more quickly and more efficiently than a normal human would be able to. His enhanced reflexes come quite handy as they let him fight and act at a level much higher than his skill level would allow. Suffice it to say, Bizarro can do things like dodge bullets and easily dodge the attacks of a normal human. Energy weapons are harder to avoid due to their speed. Not only can he do those things, but he retains very acute and fine control over his actions when he does them. He has a very precise control of his heat vision, and is much better coordinated than your standard human.
Hyper-Speed: Although not the Flash, Bizarro is still fast. Very, very fast. He's able to push speeds around half that of light in atmospheric conditions and is able to reach the speed of light for short periods of time while in space. His enhanced brain allows him to adapt to the differences in perception when moving at such speeds, allowing him to operate as if he were doing so at normal speeds. The Man of Steel may not be as fast as Wally West, but he's able to match speeds with Jay Garrick and have a winning chance. Note that his superspeed goes beyond running and flying as he's able to engage in complex actions while sped up.
Flight: The Man of Steel is capable of self powered flying. In flight he has complete control of himself, able to steer, turn and twist as needed. Flying uses up a lot of energy, though, however he's mastered the ability so that it doesn't require a lot of concentration. He can fly at speeds well beyond that of sound, and is able to reach speeds close to that of light for very short periods of time. When moving at such high speeds, his brain adjusts to the perception change allowing him to fully operate. Bizarro is capable of both atmospheric flight as well as space flight.
Heat-vision: The Heat Vision is really a way for the Man of Steel to release stored solar energy other than metabolizing it into his body. By concentrating, the man is able to produce beams of heat that can be as precise and tight as a laser if he chooses it to, or by widening the arc he can use it as a powerful blast of energy able to hit a much bigger area. His control decreases as the beam leaves his line of sight. He still retains the accuracy, though. The heat generated by these beams is able to melt through steel, or even concrete. Bizarro has full control of the amount of heat used by this ability, able to lower the intensity to do things like shaving by having the beams reflected against a mirror.
X-ray Hearing: One of the oddest powers Bizarro has is the ability he has called X-Ray hearing. Like Superman's X-Ray sight, Bizarro can use this to see things on the other side of walls or the like. Unlike Superman though, he needs to point his ear toward the target, rather than his eyes. He even holds his hand up to his ear as though listening. How this power works is a mystery, as by 'listening' he can see on the other side of objects. Bizarro cannot use this power to see, or hear, or whatever through lead, though. Even a thin lining of lead, like a layer of lead-based paint, can block this power completely. |
SKILLS & ABILITIES: |
| Combat
Bizarro likes to fight. It's one of the few things that he does well, and even then, he is not very good at it. He has no real fighting skills beyond punching, punching, and more punching. A good right hook or an uppercut is really all you need to worry about when fighting against Bizarro, as he is not going to pull out a kung fu toss or a jumping-spinney-fu-kick. The odd time, he may throw in a headlock or a bear hug, though, just to keep it fresh and interesting. Bizarro is like a large professional wrestler who can't do the fancy moves of the high-fliers. He just has a very, very limited move list.
Clubs
When he's not using his fists, Bizarro likes hitting people over the head with weapons. Often, these 'clubs' he uses are actually just light poles that he rips out of the ground, though he could use a car or statue if the situation was right. Rarely will he use something small like a baseball bat, preferring the larger weapons to smack people around with. He is only of the level of a normal street thug wielding a bat is with his poles. He can just use a lot bigger things.
Dodging
Always important in a fight is the ability to move out of the way of incoming attacks thrown your way, and since Bizarro has a lot of attacks thrown his way, he is pretty good at this. Unfortunately, he generally forgets to actually dodge out of the way... Again, he is around the level of a wrestler, who will sometimes get a hand up to block a punch, only to return one of his own. Generally, he just lets people hit him, because he either knows it won't hurt or doesn't realize it will.
Flying
Bizarro is able to fly, and thus he is able to move himself around in flight. He knows how to take off, how to land, and how to manoeuvre in the air. He is not great at this, and sometimes he will miss a turn and crash into a building, but he does know how to do more than simply fly in a straight line all the time.
Thrown weapons
Sometimes, when Bizarro gets done with a light pole club, he will use it like a javelin and throw it at his opponents. He does not have a lot of skill in aiming this way, but he can throw it rather well distance-wise. He can also throw cars, small buildings, or people with relative ease as well. He's sort of like an outfielder when throwing to home plate. He gets it in the general area, but rarely right on the catcher. |
DISADVANTAGES: |
| Animal Handling: For all of his brutish and dimwitted ways, animals seem to be drawn to Bizarro and trust him. They are not nearly as skitterish around him as they are around others and will sometimes approach him for seemingly no reason. He's the kind of guy that squirrels may run to and eat out of his hand if he were in the park, for example. He can't really control animals, nor does he really have the intellect to train them very well, if at all, but animals just seem to treat him differently. They may even try to protect him, if he's in danger, although that is highly unlikely. A dog may decide, though, to attack someone other than Bizarro if they were having a disagreement. |
CONTACTS
CONTACTS: |
| Lane, Lois: Part of his connection with Superman is his connection with Lois Lane. Bizarro considers Lois to be the perfect woman for him. In fact, he even thought that a Bizarro version of Lois should be made to be his wife. Lois, like Clark, kind of feels sorry for Bizarro and will often help him, which generally just gets her in trouble in the long run. Bizarro, for his part, likes Lois and will sometimes just drop in on her, much like he does with Jimmy. He will also protect her fiercely, even from Superman himself, if he thinks he should. He is kind of like an overprotective puppy that has banged his head into the wall a few times too many.
Mr. mxyzptlk: Although he was created by the Joker as a cruel jest, it was Mr. Mxyzptlk that allowed Bizarro to remain, even after he got his magical powers back. Therefore, even though he may not understand why, Bizarro owes his very existence to the little man from the 5th Dimension. Mr. Mxyzptlk can be a valuable ally, if Bizarro actually thought about asking for his help, but, as so often happens, his limited intellect stops him from using this resource to its fullest advantage.
Olsen, Jimmy: Jimmy Olsen is Bizarro's best friend, just like he is one of Superman's. It can be a little strange for Jimmy, considering Bizarro's strange method of speech, and the fact that Bizarro will sometimes turn on him if he is manipulated into doing so. Even when this happens, Bizarro will not necessarily try to kill Jimmy. He may threaten to do so, but that doesn't mean he will act on it. Otherwise, Jimmy and Bizarro are friends and the freckled photographer may find Bizarro dropping in on him at times. |
RELATIVES: |
| Superman: Bizarro's relationship with Superman is odd to say the least. As often as they are at each others' throats, the two are working together. Bizarro will fight Superman if he is told to by whomever is holding his chain at the time, but at the same time, he will fight beside Superman if that is the right thing to do. Superman often feels very sorry for Bizarro and often uses his superior intellect in an attempt to keep Bizarro from fighting with him. Superman also tries to help Bizarro if he can and treats Bizarro like any other person. He knows that Bizarro is not fundamentally evil but just can't always keep from doing things that he should not do, simply because he does not know any better. Because of this, Superman does not like bringing harm to Bizarro, intentionally or accidentally, and will often allow Bizarro to go free once he has been set straight again, even if Bizarro has been terrorizing Lois. |
ENEMIES: |
| Eradicator: Thanks to his programming, the Eradicator is obsessed with maintaining purity in regards to all things Kryptonian. Bizarro, by his very nature, is the antithesis of a pure Krypton. Because of this, the Eradicator is obsessed with destroying Bizarro. Although Bizarro has no real animosity with Eradicator, it does not matter, thanks to hatred that Eradicator has for Bizarro. The two still fight fiercely almost anytime they are together, with Bizarro basically just defending himself and Eradicator trying to ... eradicate Bizarro.
Luthor, Lex: Simply put, Bizarro is a liability to Lex Luthor. Lex made the first Bizarro and, somehow, Bizarro knows that on some level. This makes Bizarro a bit dangerous to Lex, because of the fact that Lex's involvement with Bizarro could be found out. Thus, naturally, Lex tries to get rid of Bizarro to get him out of his hair, or at least silence him for good. With Lex being the President, that would make it a bit more dangerous for Bizarro to have him as an enemy. With the resources that Lex has, he could really make Bizarro's life - such as it is - difficult.
General zod: For some reason, General Zod, the former dictator of Pokolistan, hates Bizarro. It is not a slight dislike. It is pure, unadulterated hatred. He may even hate Bizarro more than he hates Superman. The reason for this hatred is not really known. It just simply exists. There is no doubt that if Bizarro ever found himself around Zod, he would try to have Bizarro destroyed. |
HISTORY
The past of the being known as Bizarro is as twisted as he is himself. He was the first of Project Lionel. He was one of many attempts to clone Superman. Bizarro emerged with all of Superman's powers and abilities at least for a while. Bizarro clone was the first attempt to clone Superman. He was flawed and eventually began to speak and thinks in a backwards manner. He fought Superman and, although he was considered evil, sacrificed his life for the greater good. Lucy Lane, younger sister to Lois Lane, was rendered blind in the fighting and it was discovered that Bizarro's body could actually help her eyesight. As a result, Bizarro allowed Superman to hit him so hard that he exploded, sending a shower of dust from his body down atop Lucy, allowing her to see once more.
Bizarro would not remain dead, however, Luthor created several other Bizarro's to fight Superman, although none of them could survive for very long. Luthor would create the clone, only to watch it fight Superman and eventually end. When Luthor created the successful Superboy, and then Match. He no longer needed Bizarro.
Bizarro was dead. At least that was how it seemed, until the Joker, the madman from Gotham City, gained most of the reality warping powers of Mr. Mxyzptlk. With these powers, the Joker began to reshape the world in his image, drawing people back from the dead and trying to destroy the minds of all of the heroes in the world. One of his creations was the latest version of Bizarro.
Bizarro was created by the Joker to be the complete anti-thesis of Superman, and even had powers that were the opposite at times. He was meant to be able to beat Superman. That was before Superman was able to put an end to the Joker's reign. Afterwards, Bizarro and Superman became 'friends' of a fashion, although they continued to clash. Superman is generally able to reason with Bizarro, though, and keep him from being too much of a menace.
Now, Bizarro still roams around Metropolis, trying to help those whom he can without getting into too much trouble. He still makes many mistakes, and he can still be tricked into following the wrong people, but he is trying his best and trying to learn. It is just a very slow process.
