HISTORY

Ruler of the planet Korll, Queen Zazzala is the principal consciousness of her people's hive mind, allowing her to direct them with only her will. A shrewd negotiator, the Queen Bee serves in Grodd's Legion of Doom in exchange for a percentage of the Earth's population, which she plans to use as drones to labor in her hypno-pollen factories and in her Royal Egg-Matrix. Capable of taking control of the Justice League with her pollen, she can easily coat her opponent's minds with her mental honey, but the real threat comes from the Swarm—her armada of drone ships—which can overrun the planet Earth with but a thought.

------

The leader of the hiveworld Korll, Zazzala lives only for the interstellar expansion of her species. She clashed frequently with the original Justice League during the sixties, but largely disappeared for several decades.

Zazzala reappeared when Lex Luthor contacted her to join his Injustice Gang. She agreed, freeing The General from his asteroid prison in exchange for a percentage of Earth's population to become her drones. Her Bee-Troopers headed toward Earth and after hypnotizing the citizens of New York, she forced them to plant an egg matrix which would give her command of the population. She also attempted to use her hypno-pollen to take control of Green Lantern and Steel, but both heroes were able to fight it off; Huntress encouraged Green Lantern to resist the pollen, and Steel's suit protected him from the pollen's effects. Using the Queen Bee's inability to see the colour red, while Wonder Woman and Big Barda kept the Queen's forces occupied, Steel and Plastic Man sneaked up to the Queen and banished her and her army back to Korll via a Boom Tube.

Most recently, Zazzala and her drones have joined Lex Luthor's most recent venture, the new Secret Society of Super Villains and also became leader of the H.I.V.E.. Zazzala has insect-like superhuman strength and speed, can fire venomous stinger darts, or release mind-confusing "pollen" powder. She and her drones are unable to perceive the color red.

The Queen Bee is a conqueress from outer space. Wearing a beelike outfit and operating from a hivelike spaceship, the Queen Bee gained notoriety as an archfoe of the Justice League of America. She fought the JLA on several occasions. But on two occasions, the Queen Bee personally challenged Superman.

As seen in Action Comics #443, The Queen Bee tried to capture Superman and other members of the Justice League. She also succeeded in forming her own group of super-villains. This team, operating from her Beehive, included Brainiac, Clayface, The Harpy, Merlyn the Archer, The Ocean Master, Sinestro, Chronos, and Gorilla Grodd. Predating the Secret Society of Super-Villains and the Legion of Doom, this was one of the first "Injustice Leagues" to oppose the JLA. Ultimately, Superman would lead the JLA to victory over Queen Bee and her cohorts.

The next time Queen Bee personally fought Superman, she did so alongside The Planeteer. A new enemy of Superman, The Planeteer joined Queen Bee in an attempt to control Earth's magnetic energy. Of course, the duo was thwarted by Superman.
